Hair Gone and Fancy Free

Lis Kalogris Circa 2010

For Norg. Lord knows when the first iteration of this poem was written:

Seeking refuge in Barnes and Noble

I discover a silly brilliant little book

"Not Now. I'm Having a No Hair Day."

Cartoons, witticisms and making fun

When nothing felt the least bit funny

With Breast Cancer interrupting life.

I read that silly brilliant book aloud

Showing her every cartoon

While she drove to get radiated.

The book was awfully funny

Two hysterical lunatics were we

Until we swerved off the road splat

Bald head and de-lumped breasts

And I with all my shit jiggling

Landed intact? in a ditch by 95 South.

A friggin' miracle.
